coral bells (Heuchera)  Look at the new Dolce series http://www.djroger.com/coral_bells.htm

Something nibbled all of the leaves off my 'Purple Plum' Heuchera. Let's remove that one from the list but add Plume Poppy,  Macleaya cordata. Not grown for their flowers but a stand of them is magnificent in the sun.

We will be meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the Smeal Conference Room PSU/DuBois.
There should be some pictures of the giant vine that we were called on to identify this month. It is not something I've ever seen before.

We are officially done with the Farmer's Market for this year. It was a good year but the plants and participants are tired. If anyone is still interested in plants he/she can contact the garden club at downtoearthgardenclub@hotmail.com and we will try to help you.

There was some confusion but the opening date is officially set for July 12. Aline and Jan will be there with two truck loads of plants. This will probably be the most plants that you will see there all summer. Many will be newly potted plants as much of the stock was sold at the spring sale.
The plan at the moment is to be there through the month of July. After that we will continue to have plants available only if business is good. With the price of gas and the fact that all of us are so busy we must be selective as to when and where we have plant sales. Sorry for the inconvenience but you can contact us at downtoearthgardenclub@hotmail.com for your needs.
Happy gardening.

We had 10 people from the garden club turn out for the clean-up. We worked on the embankment, the Brady Street lot and the library. Thanks to all.

The final planting date on Friday My 16 is subject to good weather. It will start at 9 a.m. and run until noon. Watch your e-mail or contact Lisa or the garden club for verification. If the weather is bad it will be moved to the following Monday.
Lisa needs help to supervise the kids for this session. The other sessions it is bring your gloves, a shovel and a bucket.
Butterfly friendly plants are being collected. The list Monica uses at Parker Dam is at http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/wildplant/herbaceous.aspx  Lisa is also willing to accept non-native plants especially those that bloom in the spring and fall when classes are in session.

Just an update on the May meeting. We will be announcing the total for the spring plant sale for those of you who haven't heard it (phenomenal)! We will also be hearing from Shelly French and Lisa Huot about the butterfly habitats they are establishing at their respective schools.
