Cannas

We have reports that the more exotic cannas haven't done well this year. The regular green leafed, red flowered ones such as those that were planted by the library flowered early and grew well. The red leafed ones didn't flower at all says Aline and the ones on the embankment are just flowering now despite being started in March in pots. They were not started under heated conditions this year which may have been the problem as they usually bloom much earlier. Ditto the orange flowered, green leafed one. The multicolored leafed one refused to break dormancy in an unheated greenhouse until very late in the spring.
Anyone else have unusual experiences with cannas this year?
